DESIGNER STATEMENT

Design philosophy / aesthetic

As a fashion designer and overall artist I am naturally attracted to beautiful things, however, when it comes to fashion, beauty isn’t enough. In my opinion fashion is the highest form of expression because we live our lives in it. It is art, architecture, and movement all in one, so it should be functional and serve a purpose.  My approach to designing garments is different to that than most in the sense that I don’t try to reinvent the wheel. Many designers focus on visual spectacle attempting to push limits and heights by producing unpractical avant-garde sculptures, whereas I prefer to focus on the comfort and needs of real women. I prefer to create elegant and intricately tailored pieces that withstand time as opposed to creating trendy garments that inevitably become dated after one or two seasons. My goal is to produce current designs with shelf life that will make them relevant 10, 20, or even 30 years from now.

About the CLASSIC collection

After talking with many different women of all ages, races, and social backgrounds, I was shocked by the number of them that didn’t have quintessential pieces in their closet (i.e. a little black dress, among others), so for the CLASSIC collection I wanted to fill that void and go back to basics.  I decided to create a collection based on versatility and eternal elegance and glamour. My goal was to interact with my audience and get them involved in the design process by offering minimalist and basic silhouettes strong enough to stand alone, but versatile enough to give them the unrestricted freedom to change the overall look of the garment with accessories to fit their changing mood, making a piece itself suitable for different social settings. Although my designs are for virtually anyone, I lend focus and emphasis to the needs of women between the ages of 25 to 50. Depending on their age, every woman should have at least 3 if not all 6 pieces of the classic collection.
